2015 Webster Parish Fair schedule

The Webster Parish Fair will be in full swing this week. The fair’s main gate opens to the public at 5 p.m., Tuesday and events stretch late into the night until Saturday. You can take in everything from livestock shows to fun and games, watch pups dress up in the Dress Your Pet costume contest and listen to bands play into the night.

Here are highlights from this week’s fair schedule:

Tuesday

>>Fair parade begins at 5 p.m.
>>Fair gates open at 5 p.m. (Gate fees are $1 with $1 rides, Tuesday only)
>>Livestock weigh-in at 6 p.m. at the barn next to the Armory building at the fairgrounds. 4-H students will bring their livestock (goats, swine, lamb, beef, dairy and poultry).
>>Poultry and rabbit show begins at 6 p.m. 4-H students will be able to show their chickens and rabbits.
>>Char-Ray Karaoke will provide live entertainment at 6 p.m. Fair goers will have a chance to karaoke as well.

Wednesday

>>Special kids’ day from 9 a.m. until noon at the Armory building: Special needs kids and adults will be able to enjoy the fair for free and will be provided with lunch.
>>Fair gates open at 5 p.m. (Armband night: $16 for an armband to ride rides until closing. Gate fees are $2)
>>4-H Swine showmanship at 6 p.m.: 4-H students will participate in showing their animals, with emphasis on the students’ showmanship abilities. Swine weight classes will follow, where swine will be divided into their respective weight classes.
>>Stormy Weather Band will begin at 7 p.m.

Thursday

>>Senior Citizens Day from 9 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.: Senior citizens will be able to enjoy the fair at the Armory building where a light breakfast will be provided along with fun and games including bingo. Lunch will also be provided.
>>Fair gates open at 5 p.m. (Armband night: Bring two canned goods and get $1 off the armband. Gate fee is $2.)
>>Dress Your Pet costume contest at 5:30 p.m.: 4-H students who do not participate in the livestock show will have a chance to dress their pets for Halloween.
>>4-H Pee Wee Pig Show at 6 p.m.: This show is an opportunity for the smaller kids to learn how to show swine.
>>4-H leaders/principals pig pusher at 6 p.m.: The adult version of the pee wee pig show.
>>4-H goat, lamb, beef and dairy and Doug Sale Showmanship at 7 p.m.: This will be an opportunity for 4-H students who do not raise swine to show off their animals.
>>Dorcheat Bottom Band will play at 7 p.m.

Friday

>>Buyers’ luncheon at 11:30 a.m.: This luncheon is for the buyers who will purchase livestock at the livestock auction. This is also an opportunity for 4-H kids selling their animals to mingle with the buyers and let them get to know them. The livestock auction begins at 1 p.m. in the barn arena at the Armory building. The proceeds from the auction will go back into the students’ livestock projects, which helps to feed the animals, pay for their veterinarian bills and other associated costs with raising livestock.
>>Fair gates open at 5 p.m. (Gate fee is $2.)
>>Hard Times Band will kick off the live entertainment at 7 p.m.

Saturday

>>Fair gates open at noon (Gate fee is $2.)
>>Live entertainment from Char-Ray Karaoke will be from 1 until 5 p.m.
>>4-H Talent Show begins at 10 a.m.: 4-H students will display their talents such as singing, dancing and other talents.
>>Kids Day from 1 until 5 p.m., includes five rides for $5.
>>Pizza eating contest at 2 p.m.
>>Live entertainment at 7 p.m. will conclude the Webster Parish Fair.
