American Red Cross responds about Webster Parish director

by Minden Press-Herald

The Northwest Louisiana division of the American Red Cross is speaking out following a report in the Minden Press-Herald.

In an Aug. 28 story on page one headlined “Davis to lead local Red Cross,” the Press-Herald reported Linda Davis of Springhill had been named the Webster Parish director for the organization.

The American Red Cross told the Press-Herald there was no director for Webster Parish and Davis was not a registered volunteer. Executive director Michelle Davison coordinates the organization’s efforts out of the Shreveport office, the organization said in an email to the Press-Herald.

The Press-Herald apologizes for the error.

Any donations to the American Red Cross should be made by visiting www.redcross.org, calling 1-800-RED CROSS or texting the word REDCROSS to 90999 to make a $10 donation. Checks also may be mailed to the local Red Cross office, 805 Brook Hollow Dr., Shreveport, La. 71105.

Anyone wishing to volunteer should contact the Northwest Louisiana office at 318-865-9545.

The organization also asked that anyone who has been approached for a donation to the Red Cross by someone they are concerned may not be affiliated with the nonprofit, call the Webster Parish Sheriff’s Office at 318-377-1515.
