FARMERVILLE – The Glenbrook Apaches traveled to Farmerville for an early season matchup with the Union Christian Academy Lions.
The Apaches came into this game with some momentum as they are unbeaten to this point. The Lady Apaches were looking for redemption for dropping their last game against Louisiana Math and Science.
In the boys game, coach Jeff Dalton and his squad kept their record perfect by defeating UCA by a score of 68-40.
Dalton had high praise for his team.
“I thought we played our most complete game of the season tonight,” Dalton said. “I thought UCA was better than a couple of the teams that we were struggling to beat last week.”
The Apaches only led by 10 points at halftime of this contest. That’s when Dalton delivered a message to his team.
“I told the guys at halftime that we need to learn to put teams away when we have them on the ropes,” Dalton said. “We did that in the second half. I was very pleased with everyone tonight.”
Caden Copeland had the big game for Glenbrook, finishing with 17 points and 12 rebounds. Cade Conterez had 15 points and Sam Marvin had 7 points.
In the girls game, the Lady Apaches took care of business, beating the Lady Lions, 43-19.
The Lady Apaches were looking to get back on track following a disappointing loss in Natchitoches on Tuesday, and head coach Rendi Dillard was pleased to see her team do just that.
“The girls played really well tonight,” Dillard said. “They were disappointed after the loss Tuesday and came out ready to run against UCA. I’m proud of the effort they gave on both ends of the court.”
Carsin Spurlock led the team with 17 points, followed by Jessica Mangrum with 7 points. Sophomore Olivia Dalton stepped up in a big way, grabbing 17 rebounds to go with 7 points for the Lady Apaches.
