Bertha Lee Myles Williams, Wife, Mother, Sister, Grandmother, Gospel Singer, Educator and Friend departed this earthly life on January 23 in Minden, LA. Bertha was the oldest of nine sibilings born and reared in Heflin, LA. Her mother, Hattie Sims Brown and her father, John S. Myles both preceded her in death.

Bertha graduated from Central High School. She was united in Holy Matrimony to Leevi B. Williams, Sr. on January 14, 1964. To this union, five children, Timothy L. Williams, Leevi B. Williams, Jr., Regeanner Ann Williams, Gregory D. Williams, and Quincy E. Williams were born.

Bertha joined the St. Rest Baptist Church, where she remained an active member for over fifty plus years. Singing in the choir was her heart and soul. She was also active in many ministries of the church, including the Mission, Deaconess, Children’s Department, and Sunday School, until her health would no longer allow her to do so.

Mrs. Bertha Williams was employed by the Webster Parish School System for thirty years as a para professional.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories, her dedicated husband of fifty-four years, Leevi B. WiIliams, Sr.; her children: Timothy L. Williams of Decatur, GA, Leevi B. Williams, Jr., Regeanner Williams, Gergory D. Williams (Angela), and Quincey E. Williams, all of Minden, LA; seven grandchildren; four great grandchildren; her siblings: sisters, Mary Vaxter of Houston, TX, Maggie Brown, both of Minneapolis, MN, and Minnie Davis (Henry) of Heflin, LA; brothers, Willie Lee Brown (Dianne) of Houston, TX, Williel Brown of Minneapolis, MN, and Dan Earl Brown (Keta) of Heflin, LA; uncle, James Monroe Sims of Arkansas; brother-in-law, Harvey Williams, Sr. (Patricia); special daughter-in-law, Ginger Geiggar; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was also preceded in death by her grandmother, Minnie Sims and a granddaughter, Kameshia LaShay Williams.

Homegoing Services for Mrs. Bertha Lee Myles Williams will be held Saturday, February 3, 12:00 p.m. at the St. Rest Baptist Church with Pastor Robby D. Williams, officiating. Interment will follow at the Mt. Comfort B.C. Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Friday, February 2nd in the chapel of Kennon’s Mortuary from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM with Family Hour from 7:00 to 8:00 PM. Services are entrusted to Kennon’s Mortuary. Email condolences may be sent to [email protected].
