Funeral services will be held for Betty Peterson Frye, 67, at the First United Methodist Church of Homer on Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at 2 p.m. with Rev. R.B. Moore and Rev. Larry Maxwell, officiating. Interment will follow at the Homer Arlington cemetery. The family will receive friends at the First United Methodist Church, 501 West 3rd St., Homer on Monday, April 18 from 5-7 p.m.

Betty was born May 28, 1948 to Sydney “Bo” Peterson and Margaret Jho Harmon Peterson. She entered into rest Sunday, April 17th at her home following a lengthy illness. Betty was a 1966 graduate of Homer High School where she was a cheerleader and a member of the marching band, along with other activities. Betty graduated in 1970 from Louisiana Tech with a BA degree in both Speech Therapy and Early Elementary Education. She retired from the Webster Parish School system, having taught Speech Therapy for grades kindergarten thru high school for 33 years.

Betty was a member of many professional organizations that included Louisiana board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology, Louisiana Speech and Hearing Association, Speech Pathologists and Audiologists in Louisiana Schools, Delta Kappa Gamma and Kappa Kappa Iota.

Betty was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Homer for 50 years serving in the United Methodist Women, Sunday School secretary and taught Sunday School for many years. She was a very loving, devoted wife, mother, mother-in-law and grandmother giving unselfishly and tirelessly to her family. There were loyal lifelong friends with whom she enjoyed many special times.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents; also a sister, Margaret Ann Peterson Wyble.
She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Billy Ray Frye; one daughter, Ashleigh Frye Synco and husband, John; one sister, Linda Joyce Peterson; two grandchildren, Sutton and Landrey Synco, all of Homer; niece, Monique Foti and husband, Ryan and a nephew, Michael Moorman and wife, Crystal.

Pallbearers will be Ronnie Anderson, Al Blount, Luke Griffith, Ryan Harmon, Timothy Griffith and Roy Lewis.

Honorary pallbearers will be J.D. Teel, Steve Teel, Mack Waits, Billy Waits, Jim Hatch and Charles Lewis.

For friends considering memorials honoring Betty, her family suggests the First United Methodist Church, or the charity of the donor’s choice.
