‘Bikes and Trikes’ revs up Saturday

Motorcycle lovers will be turning Pearl Street into Chrome Street Saturday at the Dorcheat Historical Museum.

“We start at the Dorcheat Museum for a special free screening in our media/learning center of ‘Why We Ride,’” museum director and motorcycle enthusiast Schelley Francis said.

It’s a documentary film about the journey, not the destination.

“Motorcycles represent the milestones of our lives,” she said. “From a kid’s dream come true, to a retiree’s return to freedom. From a family riding together on the sand dunes, to hundreds of choppers carving through the canyons – the bond is the same. It’s about the passion of the riders and the soul of their machines.”

Francis said motorcycle fanatics know, “once you let a motorcycle into your life, it will change you forever.”
Museum doors will open at noon with movie showing from 1 until 2:30 p.m.
Afterward, Stumble Biscuit Band will take the stage at Easley Studio’s Courtyard located across the street from museum on Pearl Street.

Francis said the day is rounded out with food, door prizes, a 50/50 drawing and Dragbikes displayed by Minden Motorsports.

“A section of Pearl Street will be blocked off for motorcycle parking only,” Francis said. “We want to line the streets with chrome.”
