I was recently at a meeting with some colleagues, and the subject of Springhill Louisiana came up.
“Why would anybody go to Springhill?” one of my colleagues asked.

I pondered that thought for a moment and wondered myself. “Why would anyone in south Webster Parish care about Springhill?”

Simply put, what is good for north Webster Parish is good for south Webster Parish. We share a common tax base, infrastructure, and economic development opportunities.

While I understand there is a natural rivalry between schools and other entities, it should not translate into rivalry and competition across the parish.

I have witnessed some great strides being made by some of the new faces involved in economic development and tourism. They see the parish as a whole, and so should we.

The more our communities can work together the better it is for all of us. In fact, I would go as far to say the better our region performs, the better it is for us individually.

Springhill is almost as close as Shreveport or Ruston. Why not go there for things like bowling and movies and keep those dollars in Webster Parish?

While it may seem a little inconvenient at the time, it makes for a stronger economy. At the end of the day whether Minden wins or Springhill wins, we all win.
