by Minden Press-Herald

LaDonna Garms Chreene of Minden was recently awarded the LSU AgCenter’s Outstanding Nutrition Educator award at a state training held at Pennington Biomedical Center in Baton Rouge.

Chreene is employed by the local Webster Parish Extension Service and works with both Webster and Claiborne Parish programs. She is housed in the Webster parish office where she teachers nutrition programs such as Smart Bodies, Body Quest, Let’s Eat for the Health of It and many more. Chreene has been employed as a nutrition educator for twelve years. She was chosen for this award as a result of her outstanding work with both youth and adults. She teaches individuals and families the basics of healthy food preparation, getting physical activity for better health and food safety techniques. Events such as Family Nutrition Nights, Germ Cave Tours, Youth at Risk programs and Head Start parenting classes make up much of her work. Chreene is married to Mike Chreene of Minden and they are the parents of two adult children and two grandsons.
