by Minden Press-Herald

Lee MugA man who reportedly put cocaine in a cup of water to try to hide from police has been arrested.
Minden Police arrested Christopher Leon Lee, 38, of the 700 block of RWE Jones in Grambling, for possession of schedule II controlled dangerous substance (cocaine) and obstruction of justice.

Officer First Class Clint Smith stopped a vehicle on Interstate 20, in the eastbound lane around 1 a.m. Wednesday for driving in the left lane while not passing. Police Chief Steve Cropper says officers were given permission to search the vehicle after the traffic stop was initiated.

“During the search, officers found a small sandwich style bag in a blue pen top in a cup full of water,” the chief said. “Lee, a passenger in the vehicle, claimed ownership of the suspected cocaine saying it was his. The other occupants indicated they did not know it was in the vehicle.”

According to the police report, Lee put the suspected cocaine into a cup of water hoping it would dissolve before police discovered it.

Lee was placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters. He was later transferred to Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center.
