Community turns out for Wilkins benefit

by Minden Press-Herald

The community came out in full support Sunday during a fish fry benefit for J.L Jones Elementary teacher Tina Wilkins. Friends of Tina organized the fish fry to help the family with the financial burden following medical treatment.

Tina sat and greeted and thanked cars as they drove through to pick up their fish plates. She said she is overwhelmed with the community support and would like to thank everyone – including the staff of Minden Medical Center, which helped save her life. Bruce Franklin/Press-Herald

At the beginning of February, Tina suffered from a torn aorta and was rushed from Minden Medical Center to Memorial Herman Hospital in Houston for surgery. After an extensive surgery, she is back home and on the road to recovery.
