The funeral for Cottrell Terrell Jr. will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 17 at New Light Baptist Church in Minden. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m.

Friday, Oct. 16 at Benevolent Funeral Home. Cottrell Terrell Jr. was born to Mr. Cottrell Terrell Sr. and Mrs. Alma Teresa Williams Terrell in Minden.

He accepted Christ at an early age at New Light Baptist Church and was baptized by the late Pastor J. B. Huey. He was in the Sunshine Band, Home-Made Mission, attended Church Sunday School, Baptist Training Union and took part in the annual Easter Program. He received his education in the Webster Parish school system. He graduated from Webster High School in 1961.

He united in Holy Matrimony to Miss Vera “Baby Lee” Benton and to this union one son was born. They left Minden and lived in Kansas City, Missouri for a number of years. They returned back to Minden and his places of employment were the Box Factory in Springhill and the Durham Plant in Minden.

In 1984 he married Ms. Martha Henderson Talley who preceded him in death on May 26, 2001. He devoted many years working at Clement Industries in Minden and officially retired on April 24, 2015.

He passed away in his home on Thursday, Oct. 7, 2015. He was preceded in death by his parents and five brothers: B.C., Cecil, Felton, Milton, and Charles Richard Terrell. Left to cherish his memory are: his son, Vempre (Jennifer, Vempre, Jr., grandson) Terrell of Dallas, Texas; his sister, Mrs. Camilla Terrell Law of Minden; two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Jessie Flournoy Terrel and Mrs. Mary Helen Terrell, one step-grandchild, Ms. Tera Bradford of Dallas, Texas; and a number of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
