Did you notice the Change?

Hospital transition aims to be seamless

As seen in Thursday’s edition, Minden Medical Center is under new ownership. MMC, as well as Mercy Regional Medical Center in Ville Platte and Acadian Medical Center in Eunice, were officially acquired by Allegiance Health Management from LifePoint Health last week.

After the announcement, the Minden Medical Center administration wanted to assure the community that it is still the same community-based hospital it was before.

“We are excited to move forward and work closely with AHM as we continue to provide the best quality care to our patients and this community,” said Gregory Pearson, chief executive officer of MMC. “Our future is bright, and I feel certain we will benefit from this transaction. The transition will continue over the next several months, but it will be seamless for our patients as they notice little to no change. Our same caring staff and facilities are here to serve this wonderful community.”

The full wide range of services previously offered by MMC will continue to be available, and no employees were lost as a result of the ownership change. Patient satisfaction is currently at 93 percent.

Minden Medical Center is now the largest of 16 hospitals owned by Allegiance Health Management across Louisiana, Arkansas, Mississippi, and Texas. MMC currently employs over 500 employees and has over 15 service lines. Since 2012, MMC has been awarded an “A” letter grade by the Leapfrog Group of Washington D.C. for their efforts in protecting patients from harm and meeting the highest safety standards in the U.S.

“We have great opportunity ahead and want to thank our patients and this community for continuing to trust our facilities with your health care needs,” Pearson said.
