Dixie Softball and Baseball: World Series update

Three Minden teams were in action at their respective World Series tournaments Monday night, with two of three picking up big wins.

Here are the results from both Monroe and North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

Minden 7
West Monroe 1

The Minden Dixie Darlings defeated the host of the tournament, West Monroe, by a score of 7-1.
Leading the way for the Darlings were Jacey Adams and Mackenzie McCoy with a triple and single.
They were followed by Addison Monk, Rebecca Mosley, Vivian Still, Kylie Ryan, Lainey Mercer and Lindsey Ryan with base hits.
The Darlings play North Carolina today at 9 a.m.

Minden 6
South Carolina 9

In a back and forth contest, Minden came out on the wrong end versus South Carolina.
Leading the way for the Angels at the plate once again was Lauren Still with a double, followed by Emma Pitman, Emma Earnhardt, Ella Floyd and Sarah Margaret Mosley all with base hits to help the offense.
The Angels will aim to bounce back today against Florida at 10:30 a.m.

Minden 20
Georgia 1

In a crazy, rain-riddled game, the pitching machine boys from Minden came away with a huge 20-1 win over the Georgia all-stars.
Reagan Coyle, Jaxon Smith and Easton Sanders all finished with doubles at the plate for Minden.
Coyle had a single to go with his double, while Landyn Huddleston, Brody Bower, Brandon Davis, Seth Mangrum and Hunter Sutton all added base hits to round out the Minden offense.

The AA Minden team is on the field right now as rain forced their second game yesterday to this morning.

Check back tomorrow for more results.
