Dodge ball tourney to raise money for education

by Minden Press-Herald

Are you looking to be a part of the area’s most epic dodge ball tournament?

The Minden-South Webster Chamber of Commerce is hosting its inaugural “Dodge for a Cause” Tournament on Friday, July 29 at 4 p.m. at Minden High School and registration is now open.

“It’s going to be a fast-paced, exciting tournament that you won’t want to miss,” Jerri de Pingre’, president of the Minden-South Webster Chamber of Commerce said.

Fourteen teams of six will compete for trophies and prizes. Registration is $250 per team. All participants must be over the age of 18 and teams will be required to have one female member.

Admission to the tournament will be $5 for adults, $3 for students and concessions will be available. Special recognition will go to the team with the most spirit, best uniforms and best team name.

De Pingre’ says money raised from the tourney will go to fund the Webster Education Endowment Fund.

“It’s been a number of years since a fundraiser has been held for WEEF,” she said. “With additional revenue in the fund, we will be able to increase our number of teacher grants in 2017.”

The WEEF fund provides money to teachers at Webster Parish schools and is a direct benefit for students.

De Pingre’ said a Gold level sponsorship is still available for businesses interested.
