by Minden Press-Herald

Celebration of life services for Mrs. Ethel T. Wright will be held Saturday, Sept. 9 at 11 a.m. at St. Rest Baptist Church with Pastor Robby D. Williams officiating. Interment will follow at the Sheppard Street Cemetery.

Ethel Theresa Harvey was born on the first day of the last month in 1933, to Mrs. Lula B. Harvey Worthy in Nine Forks. She was the oldest of three girls, Bessie and Catheryn being her little sisters. Ethel T. attended public school in Dubberly. She later moved to Minden, where she met and married Odis Wright. With this union came a ready-made family of four small children, whom she tenderly nourished. As a housewife, she was able to spend time with her family. She enjoyed visiting and doing for the sick and shut-in. She would do whatever she could to help anyone!

Ethel T. was a longtime member of St. Rest Baptist Church Adult Choir. She loved the worship and fellowship. Her favorite outing was a trip to McDonalds. She was known by all the regular, older patrons. She was often dubbed the traffic director of Fort Street. She was an avid fisherman in her younger days.

Ethel passed peacefully on Sept. 4, 2017. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and a nephew, Charles Thomas.

Treasuring her memory are her: children, Barbara, Larry, Charles (Mary) of Minden; Walter (Jessie) of Shreveport; her extended family of children, Claudet Boston of Dallas, Gloria Wilson of Killeen; sisters, Bessie Windham, Catheryn Shelvin of Houston; 10 grandchildren, giving favor to one, Juano, whom she named “Punkin;” special friends of many years, Mrs. Ollie Mae Thomas and Mrs. Mary Kirk Odom; and a host of great-grands, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held Friday, Sept. 8 in the chapel of Kennon’s Mortuary from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. Services are entrusted to Kennon’s Mortuary. Email condolences may be sent to [email protected].
