Dealing duo behind bars

North Webster drug task force officers have taken a crack dealer and his girlfriend off Springhill streets.

Police Chief Will Lynd said Edward Lee King Jr., 32, of the 100 block of 8th St. SW, has been charged with five counts of distribution of CDS Sch. II (crack) cocaine, two of which were in the presence of a minor, one count of possession of CDS Sch. I (marijuana) and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia.

"We ran a search warrant on his residence and found a small amount of marijuana," Lynd said. "But we've had about a six-month investigation on him that resulted in the distribution charges."

Lynd said King's girlfriend, Temeska "Meek" Reynolds, 29, was charged with one count of distribution of (crack) cocaine.

"King's counts that include distribution in the presence of a minor were because her (Reynolds') kids were present during the sale of the narcotics," Lynd said. The chief said Child Protective Services is now on the case.

In addition to Lynd, Springhill narcotics officer Ronald Wedgeworth, officers William Frazier and Bryan Montgomery and Webster Parish Sheriff's Lt. Shawn Baker were involved in both arrests.
