Eddie D. Franklin was born February 14, 1933 in Minden to the parents of Joseph Franklin and Laura Gaines.
Eddie accepted Christ at a young age and became a member of St. James Baptist Church in Minden. He continued his Christian commitment, where he served as deacon with Agape New Beginning Ministry under the leadership of Pastor Charlie R. Winzer. He was actively involved in church and personal outreach ministry in the community. He would faithfully minister at local nursing homes and outreach visitation.
He was inducted in the United States Army at an early age. After he completed his tour of duty to his country, he furthered his high school education and graduated from Webster High School in Minden.
After high school, he became a licensed barber. He later moved to Florida and furthered his education and became a Licensed Upholsterer. He was the proud owner of Franklin Upholstery and served as a restorer for a number of years, even up until his health failed.
He was united in holy matrimony to Paralee Edwards and to this union one child was born. After the death of his wife Paralee, he later in life remarried Annie Ruth Walker.
He leaves to cherish his memories one daughter, Cheryl L. Burton; two grandchildren, Isaiah Burton and Olivia Burton all of Shreveport; his extended church family and a host of other relatives and Friends.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 13, 2013 at Agape New Beginnings Ministries. His final resting place will be St. James Cemetery.
Visitation is today (Friday) from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. at Chapel of Benevolent Funeral Home.
