The Minden Crimson Tide will begin their run in the LHSAA Class 4A playoffs with a first-round home game today at 5:30 p.m. against the St. Augustine Purple nights from New Orleans.
The Purple Knights finished fourth in District 10-4A and ended the season with a 12-8 record.
Minden, the second seed from District 1-4A, comes into the game with a 21-10 overall record.
Minden is the #12 seed in Class 4A and St. Augustine sits at #21. The winner of this game will go on to play the winner of #5 seed Benton High and #28 Salmen.
Minden finished second to Benton in District 1-4A and lost twice to the Tigers, 5-2 and 2-1.
St. Augustine will look for Ervin Batiste to lead them if they have a chance to upset the Tide. Batiste hit .436 this season with 26 doubles and 24 RBIs. Johnathan Jack is another big bat and Blaise Brown has pitched well for the Purple Knights.
Turner Francis has led the way for the Crimson Tide offense. He hit .453 with 32 RBIs. Austin Sumner (.398 25), McCaul Lacobee (.393 24), Hunter Leppert (.354 25) and Thomas Pevy (.333) also play big parts in the Tide offense.
