SPRINGHILL—The North Webster Lady Knights playoff hopes ended Saturday, while the Knights' baseball team advanced in the LHSAA Class 2A playoffs.
The Lady Knights were shut out by John Curtis on Saturday, ending their outstanding season, with Cassie Thomas getting their lone hit. The Lady Knights finished 25-4.
The Lady Knights made the 2A semifinals with a 4-1 win over Pine Prairie on Friday. Shortstop Brooke Foster ripped a two-run home run in the game to get the Lady Knights going. Jaslyn Winkler singled and scored on a double by Alexis Kerry in the first inning, and Caitlin Maples walked before Foster's home run. Lexi Baker scored the final run after singling and scoring on Thomas' single.
Amberlee Nix took the win on the mound for North Webster. She allowed just four hits and struck out four in her 25th win of the year.
The Knights won their opening round 2A playoff game on Thursday by shutting out Mamou, 10-0.
Cole Gray (5-4) took the win as he held Mamou to just three hits. Gray also went two-for-three with five RBIs.
Renaldo Morris, Dylan Modisette and Brayden Howard all had two hits each.
The Knights are now 26-8 on the year and will now face Catholic of New Iberia who beat Redemptorist, 7-4 on Friday.
