Funeral services for Hollis Hughes were held today (Monday, May 6, 2013) at 2 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home Chapel in Minden. Officiating was Rev. Jimmy Eppinette. Interment followed at Woodard Cemetery in Gibsland. The family received friends from 5 until 7 p.m. Sunday, May 5, 2013 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home.
Hollis was born July 20, 1945 in Liberty, Kentucky and entered into rest May 3, 2013 at his home in Taylor. Hollis was owner/operator of Cissie's Exacta Inn for 18 years and past owner of Deals Deals in Minden.
His father, Kelly Hughes and sisters, Lavern Wesley and Ruby Blakeman preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra "Cissie" Hughes of Taylor; mother, Stacha Burchell Hughes of Nicholasville, Kentucky; sons, Terry Boddie (Lolly) of Taylor, Garrett Boddie of Taylor and Ed Sturmer (Denise) of Arkansas; daughter, Hollie Hughes of Crossett, Arkansas; sisters, Sandra Taylor (Clifton) of Bowling Green, Kentucky, Debra Gibby (George Davis) of Nicholasville, Kentucky, Patty Hughes-Lawrence (Charlie) of Junction City, Kentucky and Vivian Gibby (William) of Winter Haven, Florida; brothers, Davie Garnett Hughes (Suzanne) of Rock Falls, Illinois and Johnny Hughes of Rock Falls, Illinois; uncle, James Hughes of Sterling, Illinois; four grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Pallbearers were Tommy Boddie, Terry Shelton, Tommy Young, Carey Salters, Jim Yates and Ed Sturmer.
Honorary pallbearers were O.D. Cox, Allen Boddie, Mack Pevy, Don Thomas, Roy Boddie and Jay Kumar.
