H. E. (Jack) Voorhies

H E Voorhies866Funeral services for H. E. (Jack) Voorhies will be held Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at 10 a.m. at St. Paul Catholic Church in Minden. Officiating will be Father Mark Franklin. Interment will follow at Gardens of Memory in Minden.

The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. today (Tuesday, May 14, 2013) at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden.

Jack was born August 20, 1917 in Moreauville and entered into rest May 13, 2013 in Minden. Jack was a veteran of the second World War and was in the United States Army Air Force where he was an aviation cadet. He was a member of the American Legion. Jack was an active member of St. Paul Catholic Church until his health failed. He was a member of Catholic High in Baton Rouge and very proud of his boxing ability and state championship trophies. He loved fishing and outdoors.

His wife, Alice Botzong Voorhies; parents, H. E. Voorhies, Sr., and Belle Guillory Voorhies; sisters, Eura Fontaine, Cora Lowe and Milly Duet; brother, Wallace (Dad) Voorhies; son, Jerry Voorhies; and great-grandson, Colby Higginbotham preceded him in death.

He is survived by his son, Jack D. Voorhies and wife, Jimmie Lou; grandson, Douglas and wife, Lynn and their daughters, Shelbi and Brooke Voorhies; granddaughters, Dina McGee and her husband, Jeffery and Andrea Higginbotham and her daughter, Harley; daughter-in-law, Bobbie House Voorhies; two loving nieces, Joyce Payer and Lynette Harrelson and her, spouse Carol; and special friend, Jenny Neal.
