The Minden Crimson Tide finished out their spring football practice Tuesday with a Red/White game at the Pit at W.W. Williams Field.
No score appeared on the scoreboard, but the teams were awarded points for touchdowns, extra points, turnovers, defensive stops, sacks and other big plays.
And there was a number of big plays on both sides of the ball, by first teamers and second teamers alike.
In what looks like it could become a big play duo in the fall, quarterback Turner Francis and receiver Mikey James connected on several catches, including three catches of over 45 yards each.
Francis also connected with Carson Bolyer on a six-yard jump pass touchdown.
Backup quarterbacks Trace Francis and Justin McClaren also completed several passes. Francis had a 50-yard touchdown to Andre Creer and long passes to Demarius Crow and Tarenzo Jones, the latter who made a nice diving catch.
In the running game, Ladarrius Joseph made a number of impressive runs, including a two-yard touchdown around left end.
Fullback Taylor McKissack also gained some tough yardage and backup tailback Shadarian Williams added a late touchdown.
There were also plenty of plays made on the defensive side of the ball. In addition to a number of three-and-outs, the defense turned in a number of big plays. Middle linebacker Hutton Leppert made several stops and also had an interception where he fought the receiver for the ball, knocking it out of the receiver's hand and then catching the ball as he fell to the ground. Defensive back Dekeltric Freelon returned an interception 65-yards for a touchdown, and defensive end DeVontrez Jackson made several pressure plays from the outside and deflected more than a few passes.
Now the Tide will turn to summer workouts and 7 on 7 games until fall practice begins.
