Funeral services were held for Fanni Squyres Cook, 61, at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 21, 2013, at Mt. Mariah Methodist Church in Arcadia. Rev. Perry Anderson officiated. Interment followed at Mt. Mariah Cemetery. Visitation was held prior to service.
Mrs. Cook was born Oct. 6, 1952, in Minden to Winston and Ruth Terrall Squyres. She entered into rest after a 2 ½ year fight with pancreatic cancer, on Oct. 19, 2013, at her home, with her family by her side.
Mrs. Cook attended Beulah Baptist Church as well as Mt. Mariah Methodist Church. Fanni was a loving wife, mother, granny and sister who loved to hunt and was an amazing cook. She was just as comfortable in the deer stand as she was in the kitchen. Fanni loved her husband and her family more than anything. Her children and grandchildren were her world.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Winston and Ruth Squyres and by her brother, Jack Squyres.
She is survived by her husband, Charlie Buck Cook of Athens; son, Matt Taylor of Athens; daughter, Kristi Weems of Athens; sisters, Patsy Tucker of Athens, Judy LeGendre of Athens, Cathie Liles of Athens and Libby Hayes of Farmerville; brothers, Darrell Squyres of Shreveport, Carroll Squyres of Newport News, Virginia, Ricky Squyres of Spearsville and Tommy Squyres of Heflin; and by her grandchildren, Caleb and Alora Taylor.
Pallbearers were Jack Spurlock, Buzzy Buckner, Mark Smith, Keith Cook, Ronnie Liles and Clay LeGendre.
Honorary pallbearers were David Liles, Royce Stovall, Marion Stovall and Gene Griggs.
