The game was tight most of the way, but the Tide used a big third quarter to power past Lakeside.

"We were kind of streaky," Crimson Tide head coach Alan Shaw said. "We had moments where I thought we played our best defense of the year. We've been stressing team defense, and we had moments where we looked very good. But we also had moments where we didn't look as good and let them make some big runs."

Lakeside head coach Jason Gould echoed Shaw's remarks.

"It was a game of runs," he said. "They would go up on us and then we'd come back. We were able to cut the lead to one-point going into halftime, but they came out in the third and jumped on us 27-15."

Minden led 24-18 after the first quarter, then the Warriors out-scored the Tide, 22-17 in the second to cut the lead to 41-40 at the half. Minden's big third quarter pushed their lead to 68-55 going into the fourth quarter, where Lakeside out-scored Minden, 22-21.

"I thought we played pretty well overall," Shaw said. "We had some spurts where we let them back into the game. Our pace was good, but we have to get better with our inside scoring. Once we get into district, the teams we're going to play have a lot of size, so we're going to have to emphasize that more."

Kevin hamilton led the Tide with 28 points and C.J. Elkins scored 22. Louis Moore scored 17 points and J.J. Sneed added seven.

Maurice Moore led the Warriors with 20 points and Frankie Miles cored 19. Jamarion Teal scored 16 and Davion Whiting added 14.

"It was encouraging to see our scoring up," Gould said. "Our kids didn't quit. Every time it looked like Minden was going to knock us out, we'd come roaring back. We just ran out of gas. Minden has a great shooting team and they put a lot of pressure on you. Coach Shaw does a great job with them."

The Warriors will play again this Friday night for a pair of boys games at North Webster. The jv boys will play at 6 p.m. and the varsity will play at 7 p.m.

Lady Tiders 70, Lady Warriors 40

The Lady Tiders started slow, but out-scored lakeside, 45-19 in the second half to take the 30-point win.

"I thought we started off flat," Lady Tider head coach jacob Brown said. "We were just going through the motions and Lakeside actually took a 17-13 lead early in the second quarter. We had to decide if we were going to play a more consistent way for the rest of the game."

Brown said his team wasn't mentally in the game, but after halftime they came out and played well.

"It really was a tale of two halves'," he said. "We played flat early but played really well in the second half. We weren't pushing the ball early, and we did that in the second half.

Antavia Sterling led Minden with 19 points and JaCourtney Neloms added 16. Tiaga Pugh added 13 points and 13 rebounds.

Shane Collins led Lakeside with 19.
