The North Webster baseball and softball both had very successful 2013 seasons. The Knights were co-district champs with Evangel and the Lady Knights advance to the State semi-finals.
Both teams are looking for more of the same this season.
"We have six or seven returning starters this year," Knights head coach Chris Brooks said. "They all have a good work ethic and know what it takes to win. And we have a healthy amount of newcomers that will be able to help us this season. I think they will really step up and fill any gaps that we have."
Brooks hopes his team will battle Evangel again this season for district.
"We have Evangel in our district again," Brooks said."We shared a district title with them last year. We think our guys will have to work hard and stay focused this year, as well, to win district."
The Lady Knights return three starters from the 2013 State Semi-Final team.
"We have All-State Junior Pitcher Amberlee Nix, All-District Junior 1st baseman Cassie Thomas, and All-District Senior Centerfielder Lexi Baker back this year," Lady Knights coach Tony Mullins said. "They are the only players with playoff experience in the field."
The Lady Knights started their 2014 campaign with a 10-0 victory at home against rival Lakeside on Monday. Amberlee took the win striking out six and walking two.
The Lady knights also beat North DeSoto on Tuesday, 3-1 with Nix picking up her second win of the season.
