Board votes to oppose Common Core

Webster Parish has voted to say thanks, but no thanks to Common Core, the state's newest education standard for public school students.

By a 7-3 vote during a special meeting Thursday, Webster Parish School Board members approved a resolution requesting that Gov. Bobby Jindal, state Superintendent of Education John White and members of BESE "remove the Webster Parish Public School System and the other school districts in Louisiana from implementation of CCSS and PARCC testing."
