Marilyn Louise Brown Cummings 'Maw'

Marilyn Louise Brown Cummings 'Maw'

Home-going services celebrating the life of Marilyn Brown Cummings, 75, were held at First United Pentecostal Church in Minden on Sunday, July 22, 2012. Officiating were the Rev. Jeff Ramsey and the Rev. Troy Wooten. Burial was held in Minden Cemetery.

Marilyn was born on Feb. 2, 1937 in Hillsdale, Kansas. She went to her heavenly home on Thursday, July 19, 2012 after a courageous battle with cancer.

She was retired from Webster Parish schools after 25 years of service in the cafeteria. Marilyn, affectionately known at "Maw" by family and close friends, most enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed sewing and was a wonderful cook. Marilyn was a long-time member of First Untied Pentecostal Church of Minden and was a strong Christian woman. She was a beautiful person to all who knew her and will be greatly missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James Henry and Elsie Marie Brown; and brother, Harold Wayne Brown, all of Kansas.

Left to cherish precious memories of her are her daughters, Debra McEachern of Minden, Becky Wilcher of Ringgold, Karen Harrison of Minden and Julie Merritt and husband, Michael of Waxahachie, Texas; and one son, Danny Cummings of Minden.

She is also survived by her sister, Glenna Gilbreth and husband, Bill of Roswell, Georgia. Her grandchildren are Michael A. Gray, Rick Wilcher, Kristi Downs, Kimberly McAdams, Lauren and John Cummings and Tyler and James Merritt.

Her great-grandchildren are Monica Johnson, Bryan Gray, Jathan and Jordan Downs, Taylor Shirley, Ben Wilcher and Kasey Gilcrease.

She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, friends and her dog, Paco.

The family would like to thank Agape Hospice for their services and wish to send a special heartfelt thank-you to Sherri Rowland, R.N. We appreciate the love, care and compassion she gave to our mother. Also, thank-you to Dr. Dhawan and his staff at Regional Oncology in Shreveport.
