Services for Judy Glynn Brunson Bilyeu will be held Friday, Aug. 4, 2017 at 2 p.m. at Rose-Neath Minden. Interment will follow at West Lake Baptist Church Cemetery in Doyline. Officiating will be Buster Page of the Bloom Community Church of Bossier City, assisted by her cousin, Marc Pittman.

Visitation will be held from 5 until 8 p.m. Thursday at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden.

Judy was born on Dec. 5, 1946 in Minden, to Sidney (Buck) Brunson and Ceal Wallett Brunson. She passed away at Christus Highland Hospital in Shreveport on Aug. 2, 2017 after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease and End Stage Renal Disease. She was raised on the loop off of Goodwill Road that she lovingly called “Flatwoods.” Her brother, Sid, was born in 1949 completing the family. Later, her grandmother, GranMammy Brunson, would move in with the family. She loved her aunts, uncles, and cousins that would visit often. She attended school in Doyline and graduated from Doyline High School in 1965. She met her husband, John Bilyeu, in late 1969 and they eloped and married on July 4, 1970. She immediately became a step mother to his 3 sons and their daughter was born in 1971.

Judy believed in working hard and always worked two or more jobs at the same time. She began working at Highland Hospital in 1973 and retired in 2013 after 40 years. She worked in patient care in labor and delivery, the nursery, the recovery room, and as a unit clerk in the emergency room. In 2012, she retired with 24 years of service to Barksdale Air Force Base. She worked in the OB unit of the hospital and in the mental health department. She retired from Family Advocacy and loved helping young airmen and their families adjust to military life.

Judy loved to sew, making many clothes and costumes for her grandchildren and friends. She also loved knitting, crocheting, and working crossword puzzles.

Judy was preceded in death by her parents, brother, husband, and son, Ronnie. She is survived by her daughter, Connie Bilyeu Smith and her husband Jimmy. Sons Johnny Bilyeu and wife Sabrina, and Don Bilyeu. Her grandchildren that she was blessed with by marriage are Priscilla Bilyeu, John Bilyeu, Brandi Bilyeu, and Don Bilyeu Jr. and their families. Her grandsons that she was blessed with by her only daughter are Garrett Smith and Cameron Smith. Nephew Trey Brunson and his sons. Sister in law, Katherine Bilyeu and special family friend, Betty Butler.

She is also survived by longtime friends, Tami Watkins and Brenda Pierce and their families along with many other cousins and friends.
