Lander sweeps 800, 1600-meter run at Byrd

The Lakeside Warriors track teams were back to action at the Weston and Byrd meets last week.

In the girls’ competition at Weston seventh grader Kerrigan Zachary led the way running a personal best of 13:52 to win the 3200. Zachary also took sixth in the 1600 at 6:23.18. Kizhane Esparza placed sixth in the 100 at 14.24. In the field Jhasmine Lewis took sixth in the high jump at 4′ 6″. The 400 relay placed fourth with a season best 54.98.

Senior Zach Zaldivar lead the way in the field throwing the javelin 142′ 9″ to win at Weston and 131′ 3″ for second at Byrd. Jordan Richard placed third in the shot at Weston at 42′ 11″ and was fourth at Byrd at 42′ 2″. Damien Coleman took fourth in the long jump at 19′ 1″. Adam Petty took fourth in the pole vault at 8′ 0″. Hayden Finley also cleared 8′ 0″ for seventh. At Weston, Logan Bailey finished fifth in the 3200 with a personal best of 14:15.34. Mike Bradford placed fifth in the 200 at 24.27. The 400 relay took fifth at 47.18.

At the Byrd meet Alisa Lander swept the 800 and 1600. Lander ran a 2:34.88 in the 800 and 5:41.63 in the 1600. Eric Greene ran a personal best of 4:40.79 for third in the 1600. Cody Robinson ran a personal best of 10:21.00 in the 3200 for a second place finish.

At the Bossier Bearkat Relays, Minden sprinters stood out. In the 200 Tavarius Edwards placed third at 22.24 while Sophomore Patrick Heard took sixth at 23.04. Minden’s 800 relay finished second at 1:31.128 and fourth in the 400 relay at 43.84.

Next action for the teams will be the Haynesville Invite at Springhill on Thursday, March 24.
