ARCADIA —Mae Downing Christian was born January 7, 1944 in Baton Rouge, LA to John and Lillie Mae Downing. She entered into rest on Thursday, July 19, 2018 in Simsboro, LA with her loving family by her side.
Mae retired from the US Postal Service as a rural carrier and also worked at Reynolds Industrial Contractors in Minden, LA. She loved music, playing piano, singing and dancing. Mae also loved to sew, was a wonderful cook and loved her coffee. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.
Mae was preceded in death by her parents and two sons, Baby and Owen Christian, and by brothers Dudley, Richard and Edwin Downing.
She is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Kenneth Christian, children; Aaron Christian and wife Gloria of Haynesville, Judi Michael and husband David of Arcadia, and Kelly Priestly and fiancé Josh McCormack of Ruston. Also cherishing her memory are her grandchildren; Laura Dodge, Arrian Christian, Victoria Christian, Demond Hill, Falante Hill, DeShun Hill, Shundreka Hill, Leslie Frasier, Ryan Priestly, Olivia Priestly and Isabel Priestly, great grandchildren; Kenneth and Christina Dodge, Trinity Lowery, Kyla Hill, Mechelle London, Paisley Hill, Brantley and Mason Richardson and Kenly Frasier; sisters Mary Rovena (Mike), Sue Seguin (August) and Judi Persick (Allen); her beloved dog Balto; and by many other loving nieces, nephews, family and friends.
A private memorial will be held at a later date for Mae. In lieu of flowers, Mae wished for memorials to be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, PO Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38148-0142.
