JeffersonFuneral services for Margaret Jefferson will be at 11 a.m. Monday, April 6, 2015, at Mt. Calm Missionary Baptist Church in Minden, with the Rev. T. Alexander Knapp officiating. Interment will follow at St. James Cemetery in Minden. Public viewing will be from 2 until 7 p.m. Sunday, April 5, 2015, at Benevolent Funeral Home.

Margaret was born Oct. 11, 1944, in Minden and entered into rest March 29, 2015. Her life’s journey included many facets: devoted wife, loving mother; aunt, godmother, caring friend and talented culinarian. She served as president of the Senior Usher Ministry and additionally, Head Usher at Mt. Calm Baptist Church.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles J. Jefferson; mother and father, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd P. Nelson Sr.; brother, Lloyd P. Nelson Jr.; and two sisters, Fannie B. Bryant and Mildred McClendon Taylor.

She will be fondly and forever missed by her son, Michael D. Jefferson (Sharon) of Minden and her daughter, Colonel Charlene D. Jefferson, USAF, Retired, of Virginia. She is also survived by three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Juanita J. Robinson of Minden; and brother, Rodney C. Nelson (Gracie), also of Minden. Additionally, left to cherish her memory are a special nephew and niece, TaRon and Illunga McClendon; a goddaughter, Lois Manning; along with numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

The family extends special thanks and their unwavering love and care to Ms. Betty Hodge, Highland Cancer Center (Minden and Shreveport), Outpatient Physical Therapy, Minden Medical Center and STAT Home Health Care.
