MARIE CHATMANMarie Chatman entered into this world Jan. 25, 1955, to Elmo (Jack) and Gladys Hamilton Chatman in Minden. Marie attended Webster High School and was a graduate of the class of 1974. She was the owner and operator of Trinity Cleaning Services in Minden. She also was a former security officer for Eldorado Casino. Marie departed from this life Thursday, Feb. 26, 2015, at Willis Knighton Medical Center in Bossier City.

During her journey in this life, she came to accept Christ at an early age and was baptized at Mount Calm Baptist Church under the leadership of the Rev. E.J. Barnes in Minden. She later united with House of Prayer Ministries under the leadership of Apostle Jeanette Taylor in Minden. She was a faithful servant and a valuable asset to the ministry.

She united with True Holiness Tabernacle of Prayer Ministries in Bossier City, under the leadership of Apostle James D. Council. Sept. 1, 2004, she was ordained an elder by Chief Apostle Lawrence Bogier of Original Tabernacle of Prayer for All People in Goldsboro, North Carolina. She remained a faithful member of True Holiness Tabernacle of Prayer Ministries and served faithfully on the ministry staff. She was known to fellowship with various churches in the surrounding area. While under the leadership of Apostle James D. Council, she founded and pastored True Vine Tabernacle of Prayer in Minden where she remained pastor until the Lord called her home.

She was preceded in death by her father, Elmo (Jack) Chatman and brothers, Terry James Johnson Jr. and James Terry Johnson.
She leaves to cherish her memories two daughters, Tomeka Chatman of Shreveport and La’Toya Chatman of Minden; three grandchildren, Marquise Jones, Jerrica Plater and Co’Mauri George; a loving mother, Mrs. Gladys Hamilton Chatman of Minden; three sisters, Maggie Jackson and Minnie Thomas, both of Minden and Ether West of Bellflower, California; six aunts; one uncle; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

The homegoing celebration for Pastor Marie Chatman, 60, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 7, 2015, at True Holiness Tabernacle of Prayer, 917 Youree St., Bossier City. Interment will be at Sheppard Cemetery in Minden with repast to immediately follow at Mt. Zion CME Church, 414 E. Union St. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m., Friday, March 6, 2015, at Benevolent Funeral Home, 401 E. Union St., Minden.
