Michael Paul Vachula, 53, of Caddo Gap, Ark., passed away September 12, 2014, at his residence. He was born on October 8, 1960 in North Hampton, Mass., son of Richard “Dick” and Barbara Vachula. He married once to Donna Ferguson on April 16, 1987. They were married for eight years.
Mike attended Sibley High School and graduated in 1978. At the age of 18, he joined the International Union of Operating Engineers and served in the Locals 406 and 178 for 36 years. He was a board member on the Local 178 Executive Board. Mike grew up loving work and sports. His hobbies growing up were riding 4-wheelers, motor cross racing, water skiing and knee boarding. He has always loved working on trucks and playing with construction equipment.
In his passing, he leaves behind two daughters, Whitney Whorton married to Kenneth Lee Whorton and Holly Watson married to Edwin Watson, both of Doyline; and four grandchildren Wyatt and Hannah Whorton and Emma and Madalyn Watson. He is also survived by sisters Linda Vachula of Trout and Shirley Cox who is married to Mickey Cox of Minden; and one niece and nephew Megan and Justin Cox of Minden.
