Funeral services for Mildred L. Callender will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2014, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home Chapel in Minden with the Rev. Ronnie Whitlock officiating. Interment will follow at Minden Cemetery in Minden. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2014, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden.
Mildred was born Nov. 29, 1944, in Minden, and entered into rest Sept. 28, 2014, in Shreveport.
Her parents, Archie L. McDow Sr. and Hazel B. McDow preceded her in death.
She is survived by her husband, Frank J. Callender of Minden; sons, Charles Callender of Minden, Barry Callender and wife Janice of Dubberly and Kevin Callender of Baltimore; daughters, Sue Smith of Dubberly and Patsy Edmundson of Cotton Valley; brother, Archie L. McDow Jr. of Dallas, Texas; grandchildren, Jessie Stovall, Amber Callender, Randi Callender, Chad Callender, Justin Callender, Casey Callender, Daisy Corley, Kyle Callender and Dustin Callender; nephew, Drew McDow; niece, Lisa Atilsno; special adopted sisters, Reba Turner and Rhonda Arkedge; and very special friends, Denise Myers and Annette Coleman.
A special thanks to doctors and nurses at Minden Medical Center, Willis Knighton Bossier and staff of Grace Home. Family would also like to thank the numerous people who went out of their way to provide food, comfort or a helping hand.
