Minden Angels split, stay alive at World Series

The Minden Dixie Angels split a pair of games at the Angels World Series Tuesday, leaving them one game to play Wednesday, with a spot in the semifinals on the line. Here’s a recap of Tuesday’s games.

Minden 1
South Carolina 11

Minden was led by Elisabeth Cage with a double in a loss to South Carolina, followed by Kaydree Kemp with a single and Elyse Jackson with a sacrifice bunt. Cage pitched one inning also, striking out one batter. Kylie Ryan also struck out one batter in two innings pitched.

Minden 10
N. Myrtle Beach 0

Things went much better in game two, as Minden crushed the host team, led by the effort of Lillian Jolly who blasted a home run and a single. Dakota Howard doubled and singled for Minden, followed by Laci Cheatham and Elisabeth Cage, each with a pair of singles. Kaydree Kemp, Katelin Weston, Lainey Mercer, Elyse Jackson and McKenzie Warmack added singles. Cage struck out four batters, while Warmack struck out three.
