SHREVEPORT – Things didn’t go well for the Minden Crimson Tide in their rematch with Fair Park, as the Indians made it a season sweep of the Tide with a 79-58 win.

The Tide (14-12, 2-7) continue to struggle in the absence of head coach Alan Shaw, as only two Tiders reached double figures in points, compared to four players in double figures for Fair Park.

The loss puts Minden in no-man’s land in regards to the playoffs. Minden entered the game at No. 30 in the power rankings, but still have one district game left to improve their chances of remaining in the top 32.
Thomas Brown scored 15 points to lead the Tide.

Lady Tiders

In the girls game, the Minden Lady Tiders were in position to pick up a district win, but an abysmal third quarter proved costly as the Lady Tiders (19-11, 5-5) fell, 53-38.

“It’s a tough thing to see,” Lady Tider head coach Jacob Brown said. “The last two games, the third quarter has been tough on us. We’re up by three and then we get outscored 18-5. On the road, you just have to find a way to be a little more consistent.”

The Lady Tiders looked like they had control of the game at moments, playing solid defense and forcing Fair Park into tough shots.

But the size of the Lady Indians began to play a big role as Fair Park began making a living on the glass with second chance points.

By the time Minden was able to fix their rebounding problem, Fair Park had begun to knock down shots.
The Lady Tiders struggled on offense too, shooting 27 percent from the field.

Strawberry Batton led the team with 10 points, Bre Rodgers had seven points, Sha’ Whiting had five points and Tiaga Pugh had five points.

The Lady Tiders now await the updated Class 4A power rankings, where they should fall somewhere between 18-
21.

The Tide boys have one more home game, Tuesday against Northwood at home.
