Minden High All-District Tiders

by Minden Press-Herald

The Minden Crimson Tide enjoyed a successful 2014 football season under second year head coach Spencer Heard.

The Tide came into the season expected to finish in the the middle or bottom of the pack in district 1-4A, but behind stellar play from a young roster, the Tide rolled to a 7-3 regular season record. That matched the Tide’s best season since 2009.

The whole team is responsible for the resurgence of Crimson Tide football, and 12 players who were a part of it landed on the district 1-4A all-district football team.

Offense

The Tide placed five players on the second team all-district list. Senior linemen Chris Dollar and Jakerick Johnson were both honored. Dollar and Johnson were crucial in paving the way for the Minden High rushing attack this season.

Also landing on the second team was sophomore runningback Kolby Jackson who ran wild this year for the Tide, finishing with over 700 yards and 10 TD’s.

A pair of receiving targets rounded out the offensive all-district players, as tight end Kelcey Miller and wideout Tavarius Edwards each earned second team selections.

The pair accounted for almost all of Minden’s production through the air, combining for over 800 yards receiving and 9 TD’s. Both Edwards and Miller are just sophomores.

Defense

Minden also had five players honored on defense, three first-teamselections and two second teamers.
Senior Bolshevic Green earned first team honors for stuffing the run all season for a stifling Crimson defense.

Senior Linebacker Taylor McKissack joins him on the first team after a fantastic year, as does junior safety L’Jarius Sneed.

Rounding out the defensive selections are shutdown senior cornerback Marcellous Moses and rising sophomore Zikerrion Baker.
