BOSSIER CITY — A train killed a Minden native late Tuesday morning in Bossier City.

Bossier City Police say 22-year-old Stephen Tyler Downs, was walking south on the shoulder of the northbound lanes of Airline Drive when he was fatally struck, witnesses told investigators.

It happened just after 11 a.m. at the crossing on Airline Drive immediately south of Interstate 20.

Witnesses told police the railway crossing’s warning lights and crossing gates were operating when the man tried to cross the tracks in front of the moving train.

Northbound lanes of Airline Drive at Old Minden Road were closed for about two hours while members of Bossier City police’s crash investigation unit investigated the accident.
