Nedra Kelly374Services for Nedra Neil Thomas Kelly, 85, will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 6, 2014, at Lakeview United Methodist Church with the Rev. Leon Boggs officiating. Interment will follow at Gardens of Memory in Minden, under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 5, 2014, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden.

Nedra was born July 11, 1929, in Jonesboro and entered into rest Dec. 4, 2014, in Minden. Nedra was a native of Jonesboro and a resident of Minden since 1952. She was a graduate and president of senior class of 1946 of Jonesboro Hodge High School, 18 months in Army Cadet Corp, St. Francis School of Nursing in Monroe and attended Northeast Jr. College.

Nedra met and married the love of her life, Johnny Kelly and made their home in Minden. Together they lived and loved Minden. They worked and played hard and became the parents of Tommy and Karen of whom they were very proud.

In 1954, they became members of Lakeview United Methodist Church. Nedra has served in many positions in the church. Most recently serving three years on Pastor-Parish Relations Committee and the nomination committee.

In 1960, Nedra founded Nedra T. Kelly Real Estate. She was an active broker in Kennon-Kelly Real Estate from 1975 to 2005. She continued to be active in Century 21, Mike Kennon and Associates for several more years. She was a member of the Webster Parish School Board from 1968 to 1978. For many years she worked with the Minden-South Webster Chamber of Commerce where she learned and enjoyed the chamber. She received the Woman of the Year award from the Young Women’s Service Club in 2003. She served on the advisory board of directors of Hibernia National Bank from 2001 until March 2004.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny B. Kelly after 49 years of marriage; her father, former sheriff of Jackson Parish, Neil Thomas; mother, Lilla Perry Thomas; sister, Dorothy Thomas Robinson; and special brothers-in-law, Loyd Robinson of Jonesboro and Bob Reese of Natchitoches.

She is survived by her daughter, Karen Yates; son, Neil Thomas “Tommy” Kelly; grandchildren, Kelly Yates, Brad Yates, Amy Yates Sutton, Wendy Kelly, Laura Kelly and John Thomas Kelly; and sister, Gwen Thomas Reese.

Pallbearers will be Chief Steve Cropper, Chief Kip Mourad, Dr. Max Stell, Gene Corley, Joe David and Alan Smith.
