A Minden man is facing a felony assault charge after a reported Saturday night fight at an Angelee Street residence sent another man to the hospital with a serious knife wound.

Keandre R. Dillard, 36, has been charged with aggravated second degree battery after what investigating officers say began as a fight inside the residence turned into a stabbing, Minden Chief of Police Steve Cropper says.

“Lt. Seth Young arrived at the address and saw the victim, Anthony Montgomery, come out of the house with some blood on his hands,” Cropper said. “Dillard came out of the house shortly after and he, too, had blood on his person.”

Cropper says Dillard claimed he had been stabbed, but officers later learned the injury occurred when he kicked in a bedroom door. Officers talking with Montgomery saw he was bleeding around his waist and he was taken to Minden Medical Center. Cropper says his officers reported 18 stitches were necessary to close the wound.

Dillard is being held at Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center.
