The seventh Annual Sarepta Christmas Festival with Chili Cook-Off was held on Dec. 5 in the Community Park area on Vines Street in Sarepta. This Chili Cook-Off was sanctioned by the Chili Appreciation Society International and there were three World Champions participating in this Sarepta competition. 20 individuals judged each entry on aroma, consistency, red color, taste, and aftertaste. These characteristics were scored and tabulated by the CASI officials.

To add to the fun, festival goers were able to purchase a “chili tasting cup” to determine if their taste buds and the Judges’ choices were in sync. The competitive chili cooks vied for trophies and prizes. First, second and third place trophies were coveted, as well as, the Con-Chili-Ality, Kiss the Cook, and Showmanship awards.
