Springhill wastewater plant needing repair

by David Specht

Price tag for repair expected around $1 million; scope of work ordered

The City of Springhill’s wastewater treatment plant is in need of repairs, and the City Council voted Monday night find out just what is needed and the cost.

The Council voted to give Mayor Carroll Breaux authority to enter into and agreement with KSA Engineering to perform a “scope of work,” which should determine an estimated cost.

“We converted our wastewater treatment process from an oxidation pond to mechanical back in the early to mid 90’s, Breaux said. “It needs some repairs. The letter I received indicated the OPC at $1 milion.”

“We have an account set up to put money into to take care of the plant for this kind of stuff,” said Public Works Director Mike Dunaway.
