HEFLIN – Webster Parish Sheriff’s deputies arrested a man accused of stealing and cashing his father’s checks.

Jonathan W. Squyres, 25, of the 800 block of Woodmill Road in Heflin, was arrested Tuesday, Feb. 2, for disturbing the peace, resisting arrest/an officer and theft.

Deputy Wade Wells was dispatched to the Woodmill Road residence in reference to a disturbance. Upon arrival, Squyres’ father notified Wells that the suspect came into the house yelling at his wife and was asked several times to leave. The complainant also told deputies Wells and Capt. Robert Hayden that Squyres stole two checks and cashed one for roughly $100.

When contact was made with the suspect, he refused to exit his residence, according to the police report.
Squyres was taken into custody and booked at Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center.
