Team Dylan to run in annual St. Jude race

by Minden Press-Herald

Team DylanThe Minden Run for St. Jude race committee is thrilled to have abundant team participation for this year’s 2016 race. One of the teams attending is Team Dylan, organized by friends on behalf of 18 year-old Dylan McElduff from Choudrant, LA.

Dylan was diagnosed at the beginning of September 2015 with germinoma brain cancer. Dylan had just started his senior year at Choudrant High School. Since his diagnosis family, friends and community have organized fundraisers that have exploded with support for this positive, strong, bright teenager. Dylan began receiving treatment at St. Jude immediately and has since received four rounds of chemotherapy, 20 radiation treatments and has undergone several platelet and blood transfusions.

His last treatment will be the week of the local Minden St. Jude Auction. A local family friend of the McElduffs planned on attending this year’s local race and decided to create Team Dylan. Because of the love shown to the McElduffs, Team Dylan has grown to 98 participants for this year’s race. This is just one of many many fundraising and supportive events put together in honor of this courageous 18 year old who is finishing up his senior year strong and looking forward to college. Team Dylan – we welcome you to our hometown and race.
