DOYLINE — A traffic stop ended in the arrest of a man on drug charges when a Webster Parish Sheriff’s deputy discovered suspected drugs in his vehicle.

Kenneth Lane McClung Jr., 46, of the 200 block of Reach Road in Doyline, was arrested on a warrant for distribution of schedule II controlled dangerous substance (methamphetamine) and possession of drug paraphernalia. Bond was set at $50,700.

Around 6 p.m., Thursday, Capt. Robert Hayden Jr. noticed a cream-colored Jeep headed westbound on Foreman Road making a turn onto Highway 163. He initiated a traffic stop and advised the driver, identified as McClung, of the warrant for his arrest on the distribution charge.

He was taken into custody, and when asked if he had anything illegal in his vehicle, he reportedly told Hayden he had a “meth pipe” in the seat. McClung was placed in Hayden’s patrol unit, and he conducted a search of the vehicle.

According to the report, Hayden discovered the suspected meth pipe along with a blue container wrapped in black tape. It reportedly contained a white pill suspected to be methadone. Hayden also discovered a switchblade knife behind the glove compartment and a set of digital scales.

McClung was then transported to Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center.
