Minden Police arrested four men on a traffic stop when they reportedly would not take ownership of the suspected drugs discovered inside the vehicle.
Leon Jackson Jr., 50, of the 300 block of McIntyre Street, was arrested Thursday, April 7, for possession of Schedule II CDS (cocaine) third offense, and failure to signal turn.
Andre Graham, 46, of the 200 block of Cadillac Street, was arrested for possession of Schedule II
CDS (cocaine), third offense, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Byron Sills, 50, of the 400 block of Midland Street, was arrested for possession of Schedule II CDS (cocaine) and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Deldrie Jackson, 44, of the 400 block of Joel Street, was
arrested for possession of Schedule II CDS (cocaine), second offense, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Captain Julie Harmon says Officer First Class Chris Hammontree conducted a traffic stop around 10:30 p.m. on East Street at Bailey Street, when Jackson failed to use a turn signal.
“He turned left onto Bailey Street and failed to signal,” she said. “When he contacted the people in the car, they had open containers and he found drug paraphernalia and suspected drugs.”
During a search of the vehicle, she says Hammontree found approximately one gram of suspected crack cocaine, a pipe commonly used for smoking cocaine and a brillo pad.
All four men denied ownership of the suspected cocaine and the drug paraphernalia, she said. All four were placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters for booking. They were then transferred to Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center.
