Funeral services for Trebie Erving, Jr. will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 19, 2016 at the 14th District Building with Minister Reginald Erving officiating. Interment will follow at the New Hope Cemetery.

Trebie Erving was born Dec. 8, 1939 to Trebie Erving Sr. and Ruth Atkins Erving. He was the oldest of all his siblings.

He accepted Christ as his personal Savior at an early age and joined St. Rest Baptist Church. He was a member of the St. Rest choir for many years.

He was employed by the Coca-Cola Bottling Company of Minden for many years. Trebie enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family.

Angels were dispatched for Trebie’s Earthly Departure on March 13. He was preceded in death by his parents, Trebie and Ruth Erving; his wife, Elizabeth Mary Erving; a son, Michael Erving; three brothers, John Henry Erving, Willie James Erving, and Tommy Lee Erving; and two sisters, Mary Louise Kendrick and Gladys Pearl Gasaway.

He leaves to cherish his memory, three daughters, Corlis Stokes (Barrett) of Duncanville, Texas, Lillie Mae Combs of Bossier City, Juanita Erving of Oakland, California; three sons, Quinton Erving of Dallas, John Anthony Erving of Oakland, and Antoine Erving of Berkley, California; a sister, Bernice Castle of Minden; eight grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; and a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m., Friday, March 18 in the chapel of Kennon’s Mortuary. Services are entrusted to Kennon’s Mortuary. Email condolences may be sent to [email protected].

Trebie Erving was loved by everyone he came in contact with. He will certainly be forever loved and missed by all the staff and residents of Town & Country Health and Rehab.
