DIXIE INN — A 61-year-old Springhill woman was arrested on a third-offense DWI charge Saturday, authorities said.

Webster Parish Sheriff’s deputy Trey Walker was patrolling along U.S. Highway 80 when he observed a silver Saturn driven by Katherine Kelley cross the fog line and swerve over the centerline, according to the arrest affidavit.

During a traffic stop, Kelley exited the vehicle stumbling and leaning on the vehicle for balance, the report said. The deputy also saw an open container inside the vehicle, according to the report.

Kelly reportedly failed a standard field sobriety test and was arrested on charges of DWI third offense, driving under suspension, improper lane usage and open container.

Her blood alcohol content was 0.124 percent, according to the report. The legal limit is 0.08 percent.

After being arrested, she was transferred to Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center.

In an unrelated incident, a Haughton man was also arrested on a third-offense DWI charge Saturday.

Joseph Springer, 28, of the 200 block of South Creek in Haughton, was arrested for DWI third offense and careless operation.

Just after 9 a.m. Saturday, deputy John Byrd was dispatched to Parish Line Road in reference to a one-vehicle crash.
Upon arrival, the deputy made contact with Springer, who had slurred speech and smelled of an alcoholic drink, according to the reports.

Springer was arrested on the above charges and brought to the patrol station, where his BAC registered as 0.159 percent, according to the report.

Springer was transferred to BDCC.
