Webster observes Day of Prayer

by Minden Press-Herald

Minden event at noon; Springhill starts at 5 p.m.

Today, May 3, is the National Day of Prayer, and both cities in Webster Parish are commemorating this day with prayer events.

The Minden National Day of Prayer observance is taking place at noon at First Baptist Church Minden, while the Springhill event will begin at 5 p.m. at the Springhill RV Park Stage.

The National Day of Prayer Task Force, a privately funded organization whose purpose is to encourage participation on the National Day of Prayer, has adopted the theme “Pray for America – UNITY” for 2018. The theme verse for this year is Ephesians 4:3 – “Making every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.”

The Minden service is led by Leland Crawford, pastor of FBC Minden, Richard Methvin, interim pastor at Fryeburg Baptist Church, and Robby D. Williams, pastor of Saint Rest Baptist Church.

After the prayer service in the sanctuary, a light lunch will be served in the reception room.

In Springhill, music will start at 5 p.m. with prayer beginning at 6 p.m.
