The Springhill Lumberjack Parade is honored to announce that Trey Maxwell, 2023 Louisiana State Logger of the Year, will serve as this year’s Grand Marshal. Recognized for his outstanding contributions to sustainable forestry practices and leadership in the logging industry, Maxwell brings a wealth of expertise and a legacy of excellence that perfectly embodies the spirit of the parade.
A native of North Webster Parish and current resident of Sarepta, Trey has been a pillar of the forestry community for over 28 years, providing services to both Louisiana and Arkansas through his company, Trey Maxwell Trucking. His commitment to excellence and environmental stewardship makes him an outstanding representative of our small, rural parish.
Maxwell, a highly respected figure in Louisiana’s logging community, was awarded the prestigious title of 2023 Louisiana State Logger of the Year by the Louisiana Forestry Association for his commitment to sustainable forestry, innovative logging techniques, and adherence to the highest standards of environmental stewardship. His company, Maxwell Logging, has consistently been at the forefront of implementing best practices in forest management and has played a pivotal role in promoting safety and efficiency within the industry.
Maxwell has been widely recognized for his expertise and leadership in the logging industry. He has been featured on the Minding the Forest podcast (June 2024), in the Louisiana Farm Bureau News, and by the Louisiana Forestry Association in 2019. His company gained regional acclaim when it was highlighted in a cover feature of Timber Harvesting Magazine in 2017, showcasing the innovation and success of his business.
With over 28 years of industry experience, Maxwell has not only led numerous successful logging projects but has also served as a mentor to up-and-coming professionals in the field. His dedication to advancing the industry was further exemplified through his active involvement in the Louisiana Logging Council, where he contributed to initiatives that support logger education and safety training statewide. As an advocate for sustainable forestry practices and safety standards, his work has not only elevated industry standards but also paved the way for future loggers.

The Springhill Lumberjack Festival, an annual tradition celebrating the region’s logging history, will feature a variety of activities including vendor booths, live entertainment, and family friendly events.
